Here are a few hints to help make your family session successful.
What to Wear:
The best choices are simple and plain. Coordinate your colors and please stay away from white. Avoid all one-color outfits-all red, black, etc. Clothing should lend itself to the photo not dominate. To create harmony in your photos select at least one color in each outfit that is the same. Stay away from loud patterns or busy prints. Comfortable goes a very long way toward great family images. Sweaters, jeans, khaki, chambray all are great.
Fit is important as well, if the clothes are too big they won’t get any smaller in the
photos.What to Expect:
We have found the best family photos are done fast. Keep your parental expectations low and the bribes minimal and things tend to go great. Family portraits are one of the few places that children can exert ultimate control and if they realize it too early the process can get really bogged down.
A well-rested infant in a clean diaper is usually very cooperative.
A toddler, well you know, it is a by the minute proposition. Our photographers are especially trained to work with small children and if we all stay relaxed magic can find us. Be sure to bring non-messy treats, a sense of humor we will all need it.
Preschoolers and school age kids are a piece of cake. Explain in simple terms what will happen and make sure they are well groomed ahead of time.
Teens, good news, they are not toddlers! Bring a couple of extra sweaters if plunging necklines or safety pins dominate their wardrobe and perhaps we can convince them a few different looks is fun.
Weather Concerns:
We generally do our family sessions outside though rain, freezing temps or high winds will move us indoors to the studio. We will call you that day to advise you of a date or location change.
Costs and Ordering Info:
Each $95.00 session is for one grouping and will last approximately 20 minutes. If you would like to do more than one variation of family members or have more time you are welcome to book an additional 20-minute sessions at $55.00 each. All appointments require a non refundable credit card prepayment.
Proofs will be available online for your viewing the next week. You will receive an email with the log in code and ordering instructions. We advise you to order your enlargements and holiday cards within a week to assure delivery by the holidays.
Retouching:
Retouching is done by request and it's cost depends on how extensive the retouching is. Basic Retouching includes removing simple facial blemishes, removal of stray hairs, etc. The base cost is $20 per head within a single frame. Please allow additional time to process and deliver retouched orders. More extensive retouching is by quote.
Holiday Order Deadline:
We cannot guarantee holiday orders placed after December 9th.
